TIRK061 - Chicken Lips - Show Your Shape: The Best Of Chicken Lips
In 1999 Andrew Meecham and Dean Meredith formed Chicken Lips. The original idea was to seek underground salvation and immerse themselves in the musical styles that they grew up with and loved.
Together they also made up the seminal early nineties dance act Bizarre Inc who scored 3 top ten national hits, toured the world and worked with some of the biggest names in the biz. 2003 saw brethren Stevie Kotey join the lips, Stevie adding his DJ and tour duty gravitas. In 2005 the final piece of the jigsaw was added in the form of long time friend and collaborator Jonny Spencer aka Jonny Tonic, Jonny bringing his song-writing and vocal skills into the mix.
As well as working under the Chicken Lips moniker Dean also records as White light Circus / The Rhythm Odyssey / Goat Dance and Andy as the hugely successful Emperor Machine.
TIRK060 - The Time And Space Machine - Set Phazer To Stun
The Time And Space Machine was conceived in 2008 as a sound that solidifies Richard Norris' decades of collecting, releasing and writing about psychedelic music. Richard's journey into psych began as a teenager when he worked for the legendary UK psych label Bam Caruso, who released dozens of psychedelic and freakbeat compilations. This record (largely done for the first time by himself beneath a castle in Lewes, Sussex) meshes all these influences with modern production techniques to create something new - and in our opinion - very special.
TIRK058 - Architeq feat. Ilija Rudman - Mind Games
Young, London based Scotsman Architeq (AKA Sam Annand) and his ‘Gold + Green’ album was one of the highlights of the Tirk year in 2009. The organic buzz that surrounds his unique brand of dubby, swingy, electronic funk shows no sign of abating.
TIRK056 - The Love Supreme - New Millennium Freaks
Its been a 3 year love affair between Tirk and the 4-piece, Milan-based, Sonic-experimentalist, Krautrock-inspired, Muso-heads The Love Supreme. After three well received Tirk 12” releases, a ton of gigs and an A+R email stream to reach the moon and back…. The Love Supreme long-player is here.
TIRK057 - Sorcerer - Chemise
Following up from the well-received 'Neon Leon' album back from the long forgotten summer of 2009, here we present a trio of fine remixes to warm the cockles in these long winter months.
TIRK053 - Tirk presents: Zen and The Art Of Disco
Nu Disco masters Tirk enlist Djs in the Sky to serve up a welcome lesson in the ways of the Zen Disco. Starring current practitioners of the form such as Bottin, Time and Space Machine, Architeq and DFA’s Woolfy alongside classics from Cruising Gang and Space, this mix drifts through chugging, slo mo electronics and atmospheric ambience to glistening Italo and warm, deep disco, whilst never losing sight of it’s Zen mission. One for Dharma Bums everywhere.
TIRK055 - The Love Supreme - Sugar
Its been a 3 year love affair between Tirk and Milan based Krautrock inspired Disco-heads The Love Supreme. After two well received Tirk 12” releases, a ton of gigs and an A&R email stream to reach the moon and back…. The Love Supreme album is soon upon us. As a taster of what is to come, first up is ‘Sugar’.
TIRK049 - Space - Carry On Turn Me On
Whilst a certain Parisian electronic duo were still (probably impossibly chic) toddlers, French duo/production Space had worked out that making lots of hooky synth disco and wearing Space suits in public at all times were a potent pop combination, one that enabled them to sell 12 million records across 5 albums from 1977-81, before imploding in the time honoured fashion of lawsuits and bitter recrimination all round.
TIRK050 - Greg Wilson - Credit To The Edit vol 2
Four years on and Greg Wilson finally finds time to complete this long-overdue sequel to his scene defining 2005 compilation.
Whilst Credit To The Edit Volume 1, bar a couple of exceptions, focused solely on tracks originally released in the 70's and 80's, Volume 2 brings things right up to date, with two thirds of the album made up of recordings from recent years, all of which have done the business for Greg in today’s clubs.
TIRK051 - Sorcerer - Neon Leon
Back in summer 2007 Sorcerers first album 'White Magic' gently nestled itself into the Balearic listening album / soundtrack-to-summer slot for quite a few people. It's 2009 and summer is nearly upon us again and it's time for the second chapter.
TIRK048 - Architeq - Gold + Green
Young, London based Scotsman Architeq (AKA Sam Annand) has made a lot of noise without actually releasing a lot of material since his debut 'Birds Of Prey' EP on Tirk early last year. The odd well chosen remix aside, he’s been burying himself in the studio making his debut album, while around him a slow, organic transatlantic buzz is building as the blogs and download sites quietly point people towards his unique brand of dubby, swingy, electronic funk.
TIRK047 - THE TIME AND SPACE MACHINE - CHILDREN OF THE SUN & ZEITGHOST
We like the prefix "psych" in front of things - folk, pop, rock - but we're not sure what to put it in front of when it comes to the The Time and Space Machine, Norris's new solo project - dance? disco? funk?
Whatever, we feel kind of privileged to be playing label home to TT&SM original material, and this first release, a double A side 7 Inch.
TIRK046 - SON OF SOUND - NO RETRIBUTION EP
Son of Sound aka Henry Maldonado has been a fixture on his Native NY house scene since his first Strictly release way back in 1992, releasing on Henry Street, Emotive and Cutting amongst others. So it's no surprise to find Big Apple funk running strong through this, his Tirk debut ...
TIRK043 - TIRK 02
Whether it’s Terje chopping up Chaz Jankel into piano scream up heaven, or new Russian lads Acos Coolkas creating ice cool electronic house, Prins Thomas adding Scando swing to Sorcerer’s West Coast lounge tackle, Richard Sen going disco-psyche on Brad Vachal....
